The Tallest MES/SN Wall in Colorado Reaches 94 feet in Castle Rock

Located just west of I-25 between Meadows Parkway and Castle Rock Parkway, the Promenade at Castle Rock is a new destination neighborhood center featuring a combination of retail, restaurants, and multi-family residential joined by outdoor spaces. Site work on the project started in 2014 and is currently in the final stages of finishing building pads and buildings, which includes approximately 1,000,000 square feet of retail and 320 apartment units.

GROUND Engineering has been involved in site work services from the start, helping to account for and resolve issues around the site’s significant grade changes. GROUND provided geotechnical engineering, material testing, and construction observation services along with special inspections and retaining wall design for the entire site. The site retention system includes approximately 210,000 SF of finished face resulting in the tallest Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) and Soil Nail (SN) hybrid wall system in Colorado at 94 feet high.
Led by Alberta Development Partners, LLC the overall project was delivered by general contractor, WE O’Neil and Maxwell, with architecture services led by Galloway and civil engineering by Bowman.
