Saunders Construction Announces Early Completion of Rodger Quist Middle School in District 27J
Middle school to open Seven Months Early in January 2020
Saunders Construction is pleased to announce that it
is on pace to complete the construction of 27J’s new middle school, Rodger Quist Middle School (RQMS) several months before the originally expected delivery date. The school is on pace to be open to seven months early--allowing the new school to open early to students, teachers and staff in January 2020, instead of the
originally scheduled date of August 2020.
Some factors contributing to an earlier school opening include the hard work and dedication of the entire architect and construction teams, an early mild winter allowing for construction to continue on pace, and the decision to install a temporary roof on RQMS to allow for interior work including electrical, drywall and cabinetry to be completed earlier.
The 132,492-sq.-ft. middle school is under construction at 13451 Yosemite St. in Thornton; the school is being built on 21-acres and will have a student capacity of 825 students for grades sixth through eighth.
Rodger Quist Middle School is being constructed by Saunders Construction; the architect is Larson Incitti Architects and the owner’s representative is Inline Management.
GH Phipps Celebrates Completion of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Addition
GH Phipps is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies’ Surgery and Recovery Center addition. The general contractor joined the Center’s executive team, staff and members of the surrounding communities for a ribbon cutting and open house.
The 64,000 square foot surgery and recovery center
is located in Loveland and will provide much needed support to the existing surgical facility which performed nearly 6,000 surgeries last year.
Construction began in October 2017 and the new center includes eight operating rooms as well as a reception area, offices, and pre- and post-operative rooms on
its main floor. The second floor consists of 21 recovery rooms to accommodate patients who can’t be sent directly home after surgery.
GH Phipps worked with the design team from Infusion Architects. The interior design was completed by Studio Blue Design.
Cañon City Middle School Breaks Ground on New Project
A groundbreaking ceremony was held March 29, 2019, at Cañon City Middle School in Cañon City, Colo., to celebrate the start of construction for the school that will serve sixth through eighth grade students.
The new middle school is part of a multi-facility repair, renovation, and upgrade project made possible by a successful bond and a Building Excellent Schools Today
(BEST) grant. The design-build project being performed by RTA Architects and GE Johnson Construction Co., is scheduled to be completed in winter of 2021.
The project involves the demolition of part of the existing school and parking lot, remodeling the gym that was originally built in the 1980s, and the construction of a new addition.
