Executive Leadership Academy – Invest in Your Employees
by Julie Wanzer, LEED AP
According to the 2019 Construction Outlook Survey by AGC of America, 71% of Colorado firms indicated they will be increasing their investment in training and development of their employees. This investment is evidenced by the
21 most recent graduates of AGC of Colorado’s Executive Leadership Academy, which took place March 7 – 8, 2019.
The AGC Board of Directors and the AGC Education Foundation, in conjunction with Polsinelli and FMI, held the 7th annual Executive Leadership Academy to help prepare the next generation of leaders in the construction industry. In order to participate in the annual ELA, potential candidates must be nominated by their company to
join the class. The topics address company-wide risk and leadership with a focus on the Colorado market.
This year’s class graduated on March 8, 2019 during a reception and dinner that took place at the Governor’s Mansion Carriage House. The 21 graduates were joined by representatives from their respective firms and former ELA alumni, along with members from the AGC Board of Directors and Staff.
Bud Starker, President and CEO of Starker Construction and Mayor of Wheat Ridge, served as the keynote speaker,
imparting advice on the ELA graduates. “Change is constant, deal with it...Trust in your mission and always have respect for yourself and for others,” Bud Starker said in closing to the ELA graduates.
AGC extends its congratulations to the 2019 ELA graduates, and to the firms that made such an important investment in their future leaders. Brian Bender, Dynalectric Company * Samantha Brooke, Hensel Phelps * Zac Brownson, KL&A
