AGC Colorado Opens New Colorado Springs Office
The Associated General Contractors of Colorado (AGC/C) opens a new Colorado Springs office to provide area construction firms with advocacy, education, networking and workforce development services. AGC/C has been active in the Colorado Springs area for years, but recently made the investment to have a dedicated location to better serve its members in the second largest city in the State.
Despite the effects of COVID-19, Colorado Springs has maintained a positive growth in construction jobs with 19,700 jobs as of July 2020, which reflects a 2.1% rate of growth in construction jobs from July 2019 to July 2020, according to the lat- est U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. These construction jobs are evidenced by the several large construction projects already underway, including the downtown U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum; the multipurpose stadium housing the Colorado Springs Switchbacks; the new Summit House atop Pikes Peak; and a new headquarters for Ent Credit Union. “People and companies want to invest in an area that is investing in itself. Mayor Suthers and the Colorado Springs community have invested in their own community with new and expanded infrastructure, and the results are positive” observed AGC CEO Michael Gifford.
“Our goal with the new office location in Colorado Springs is to extend our breadth of resources to construction firms in Southern Colorado, and engage with local leaders to continue the positive economic momentum. We firmly believe in in- vesting in the locations we serve with office space and staff time to help bolster our local programs, and we want our Colo- rado Springs members to know that we are never more than a stone’s throw away from their offices and projects.”
The new office location will also allow AGC/C to strengthen their existing partnership with the Housing & Building Associa- tion of Colorado Springs (HBA). This alliance was formed 5 years ago to provide training for high school construction trades programs, and now serves 20 high schools and 2,000 students statewide and 11 schools and 1,000 students in the Colora- do Springs area. AGC/C now co-locates with HBA near Garden of the Gods Road, at 4585 Hilton Pkwy # 100, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
