“Dutch” Bansbach vividly remembers stories of his grandfather wanting
to sell the last of the land the Bansbach and Dake families had owned since around 1870, at what is today the intersection of Belleview Avenue and I-25. The property, which served as the family winter wheat farm had been split in two when Interstates 25 was constructed in
the 1950s, and created a barrier that made it nearly impossible to move farming equipment.
Fortunately, grandad Bansbach’s decision was voted down and today the property is the fast growing
and very popular Belleview Station. Getting Belleview Station to the point it is today took a great deal of
work and planning. In 2000, Dutch and his cousin Bob Warren made the decision to rezone the remaining 51 acres and entitle it for development. They created Metro Districts to provide water and sanitation services, an owner association to set and preserve the vision, a public improvement company to organize the parking, and launched full scale development in 2012. Today, after surpassing the ten-year mark in time, Belleview Station has much
to celebrate and even more to look forward to.
