Larimer County Emergency Services Facility Officially Opens Doors in the Peak of Wildfire Season.
At the peak of Colorado's 2026 wildfire season following one of the state's warmest and driest winters on record, JE Dunn Construction and Larimer County celebrate the ribbon cutting for the new Larimer County Emergency Services Building, providing a crucial resource to the Northern Colorado region at a time when they need it most.
One Year to Project Completion for Larimer County's New First Responder Facility
Delivered on a fast-track schedule of just over a year, the completion of this 33,000-square-foot facility marks an impactful step for Larimer County first responders and the greater community. Strategically designed to maximize capacity and efficiency during critical events, the building hosts 16,500-square-foot business space and a 16,500-square-foot area for emergency vehicle storage, creating a centralized hub for emergency preparedness, training, and deployment. The building serves as the county’s primary emergency response center for events including wildland fire, search and rescue, water rescue, and hazardous materials incidents.
“In crisis after crisis, the first responders of Larimer County have always shown up with immense speed, bravery, and expertise. I was proud to secure $850,000 in federal funding to build the Larimer County Sheriff's Office's new Emergency Services Building, which will now serve as a home base for these first responders — from wildland firefighters, paramedics, rescue professionals, and the countless others our communities depend on,” said Congressman Joe Neguse.

Thanks to strong partnership among JE Dunn Construction, Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Larimer County Board of Commissioners, the Board of County Commissioners, and all project stakeholders, Northern Colorado has the much-needed, updated resources to keep its communities safe. The new Larimer County Emergency Services Building will strengthen regional emergency preparedness and provide lasting value to the region for generations.
About Larimer County Emergency Services: Emergency Services is one of five divisions within the Larimer County Sheriff's Office. The division was founded in 1968 to meet the increasing demand for disaster and rescue services in the region. Today, the team includes just over two dozen full-time staff members, approximately 20 seasonal forestry technicians, and a large cadre of on-call wildland firefighters. Emergency Services also acts as the agency liaison and activation authority for our three non-profit partners: Larimer County Dive Rescue Team, Larimer County Search and Rescue, and Diamond Peaks Ski Patrol.
All of these teams will be housed at the new facility. Together, they support year-round disaster response, rescue missions, prevention efforts, and community engagement across all 2,634 mi² of Larimer County. In addition to protecting the local community, the division's Phantom Canyon Crew also supports wildland firefighting efforts around the state and nation.
