Colorado Springs Ready to Score with Switchbacks Stadium

Soccer has found a home in Colorado Springs with construction of the new $35 million Switchbacks Stadium, scheduled to be ready for the opening kickoff in March 2021. The Switchbacks are owned by the Ragain family and Dean Weidner and are part of the USL Championship, a league founded in 1986 that today is set to bring high-level competition
to more than 100 markets across the United States and Canada. The new stadium in Colorado Springs will
be among the most sophisticated and community-oriented sports
and entertainment facilities in the nation, providing The Springs with a destination for everyone to enjoy.

Located at the CityGate property, adjacent to the new US Olympic and Paralympic Museum, the stadium is strategically located in downtown Colorado Springs, providing high visibility and easy access to a multitude of amenities and special experiences that will have the USL club as its primary anchor. With 8,000 seats (expandable to 15,000 for concerts and other special events), the 227,000 square-foot stadium
will include a Sky Club for special events and private parties, a year- round restaurant concept, catered spaces, a wide and inviting open air concourse, a Centura Sports Medicine Clinic and Training Facility and an
iconic stainless steel sphere sculpture located at the stadium’s entrance.
Beyond the stadium itself, the surrounding site will also be activated by a $40 million mixed-
use development to include 1,000 apartment residences developed
by Weidner Homes (which began partnering with the Switchbacks
for naming rights to the stadium in 2017). The combination of activities, attractions, nearby residents and visitors to the stadium will help the City, the Switchbacks and all the partners involved to achieve the goal of making the downtown location a thriving destination.
