 Karla Kinser Joins Burns & McDonnell
Karla Kinser, PE, joins
Burns & McDonnell, an engineering, architecture and construction firm.
Kinser will manage project teams consisting of engineering, architecture and construction professionals
to plan, design, permit and construct conventional and advanced water
treatment facilities.
With nearly three decades of experience, Kinser specializes in designing and implementing low pressure and high-pressure membranes — a chemical separation and water purification technology — which can be used for treating drinking and industrial reuse water.
She received her master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois- Urbana. She earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and a degree in natural resource management from Colorado State University.

  Larry Head Joins Stanley Consultants as Energy Business Leader
Larry Head has joined Stanley Consultants as a vice president and the firm’s Energy Business Leader. In this position he will lead the firm’s energy business and serve on the firm’s strategic leadership team. Founded in 1913, Stanley Consultants provides environmental, engineering and construction services worldwide.
Head comes highly qualified to the position with over 30 years of experience in the engineering industry. Prior to joining Stanley Consultants, Head was a vice president, regional business line leader and national practice leader for AECOM, the world’s largest engineering company.
New Hire at Sopher Sparn
Sopher Sparn Architects are pleased to announce that Michelle DeYoung recently joined the firm as Project Manager and Designer. Michelle brings with her 10 years of experience in varied project types including multi-family housing, institutional and commercial.
She earned her Masters of Architecture from Boston Architectural College. Michelle is also an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects.
