AI-Ready $192 Million Data Center Tops Out as Denver’s Digital Infrastructure Demand Accelerates
One of the largest digital infrastructure projects currently underway in the Denver metropolitan area.
PCL Construction Services, Inc. and PCL Industrial Services, Inc., operating companies of PCL Construction, have reached structural completion on a $192 million, 22.5‑megawatt data center.
Strategic Collaboration Drives Advanced Data Center Development
Located on a 17-acre site southeast of Denver, the project is being delivered by PCL’s Minneapolis Buildings group in collaboration with the Denver team, combining longstanding client relationships with local market expertise. The data center is designed to support enterprise-scale, compute-intensive workloads, including artificial intelligence and graphics processing unit applications, as demand for high-capacity digital infrastructure continues to grow across the region.
Phased Construction Supports Scalable Growth and Tenant Flexibility
PCL’s scope of work includes the phased construction of five steel‑frame colocation data halls totaling approximately 277,000 square feet, allowing for efficient onboarding of new tenants while maintaining flexibility for future expansion. The project also features a dedicated administration building with office space for personnel and on‑site operations teams.
Robust Electrical Infrastructure Powers Mission-Critical Performance
The project includes comprehensive electrical infrastructure to support continuous, high‑performance operations, from permanent and temporary power systems to sitewide distribution, security, and communications pathways. Key work includes installing and integrating major power and cooling equipment that enables reliable, high‑density data center operations. PCL Industrial Services, Inc. is self‑performing the core electrical work while coordinating specialized partners for testing and life‑safety systems.
Sustainability and Efficiency Aligned with High-Density Demands
Designed to accommodate high‑density deployments, the data center is being developed to meet modern sustainability and energy‑efficiency requirements, aligning performance needs with responsible resource use.
“PCL brings extensive experience delivering mission‑critical and data center facilities across the United States, and that expertise is critical on complex, high‑density projects like this,” said Ryan Schmidt, vice president and district manager of Denver Buildings. “By working closely with our Minneapolis colleagues, we’re leveraging deep client knowledge alongside strong local execution to deliver a highly reliable facility for the owner.”
Topping-Out Milestone Marks Transition to Interior Build-Out
PCL and project partners marked the milestone with a topping‑out ceremony recognizing the dedication, craftsmanship and collaboration of the project teams as the development transitions into interior build‑out and systems installation.
Construction of the data center is scheduled for completion in summer 2027.
