Historic Rossonian Hotel to be Revitalized in Five Points
Design services are well underway on a plan to rehabilitate the historic Rossonian Hotel located at the epicenter of Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. A joint development between
Palisade Partners and the Five Points Development Corporation in partnership with Chauncey and Piper Billups, the plan sees the once acclaimed hotel and jazz venue revitalized in a blocklong development that combines historic preservation with new in-fill construction.
The Rossonian is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the original structure will be restored as a boutique hotel. Chauncey’s Restaurant will animate the historic building’s street level with a 150+-seat restaurant with private dining opportunities. An existing annex building will be removed and replaced with a modernist in-fill that steps up in height to greet the adjacent, nine-story Hooper Building. The new building will account for 67 of the hotel’s 80-units, with 16 units in the original building. The in-fill building will feature a 300-seat jazz performance hall, an intimate lower-level lounge of some 40 seats, and a fourth-floor club with rooftop seating.
Design services are being led by Craine Architecture with Hyder Construction leading delivery. Design services began in January 2019 and construction is expected to kick off in the summer of 2020 for a 2022 completion.
