Northeast Denver Housing Center to Break Ground on Pearl Street Uptown Apartments
Nine-story mixed-income development will add and preserve 158 homes in Denver’s Uptown neighborhood.
Northeast Denver Housing Center (NDHC) is preparing to break ground on Pearl Street Uptown Apartments, a major mixed-income housing development that will transform a full city block in Denver’s Uptown neighborhood.
Led by NDHC, a community-focused nonprofit housing developer, the project includes construction of a new nine-story mixed-income apartment building at 1616 and 1630 N. Pearl Street, along with the renovation and preservation of the existing 20-unit LaGrace Apartments at 1642 N. Pearl Street.
Mixed-Income Workforce Housing in Denver
Together, the development will bring 158 total upgraded and newly developed housing units to one city block, including 138 new construction units and 20 preserved apartments. The project will provide mixed-income workforce housing near downtown Denver, with access to transit, employment centers, healthcare, neighborhood services, and surrounding amenities.
NDHC recently closed financing for the development and finalized the land acquisition, marking a major milestone ahead of construction, which is expected to begin this month.
“We are looking forward to starting construction this month on this rare opportunity to provide mixed-income housing within steps of the heart of downtown,” said Dominique Acevedo, executive director of NDHC, in a statement.
The Pearl Street Uptown Apartments project reflects continued investment in expanding housing access while strengthening one of Denver’s established urban neighborhoods. By combining new construction with the renovation of existing apartments, NDHC’s approach supports both growth and preservation within the Uptown community.
Once complete, the development will add a significant number of mixed-income homes to the neighborhood while helping meet Denver’s ongoing demand for attainable, well-located housing.
