JR Engineering, a leading Colorado engineering and surveying firm for nearly 50 years, raised $12,000 for The Morgan Adams Foundation through its 15th annual client appreciation golf tournament last month. This year’s charity was chosen because the spouse of a JR employee teaches a child, Eli Mahnken, in her Cherry Creek kindergarten class who has been battling a brain tumor since before his second birthday.

“This event is a highlight of the year for the firm and those it serves,” said Aaron Clutter, JR Engineering President. “We jumped at the opportunity to support Eli and the foundation. It’s heartbreaking, as he has endured surgeries, radiation, and other treatments for more than half his life. He’s the sweetest little guy, determined to, in his words, ‘beat this cancer.’ It is our honor to support ongoing, groundbreaking research funded by The Morgan Adams Foundation to discover new pediatric cancer treatments on his behalf.”

JR’s golf tournament was held at The Ridge at Castle Pines, with 100 golfers enjoying camaraderie and spirited play on one of the region’s top courses. Funds were raised through hole sponsorships, a silent auction, and funds contributed directly to The Morgan Adams Foundation on behalf of Eli by participants, friends, and family of JR Engineering and its clients.

On the foundation’s website, Eli’s family said, “Eli is the toughest kid we know. Even after enduring difficult procedures, Eli was happy and unfazed by the tremendous obstacles presented to him. Eli is doing well in school, plays soccer, and has been learning how to downhill ski. On the outside, Eli looks like a normal kid, but we know the true impact of pediatric cancer, on Eli and our entire family. We hold our breath for his next scan and are continually grateful for MAF and the research that is improving outcomes for kids like Eli.”

Eli’s story and photos can be found here. Everyone involved in the event is rooting for Eli and his amazing family, and JR Engineering encourages everyone to keep them in their thoughts. Anyone who wishes to support the important research The Morgan Adams Foundation does to find cures for pediatric cancer can get involved, or contribute via their website.

About JR Engineering
In 1973 Jim Fraker and Roger Guertner, working as surveyor and engineer, founded a firm specializing in land development consulting services. A friendly coin toss determined the initials of the company to be JR rather than RJ. From a four-person shop in 1973, JR positioned itself as the experts in the southern Denver metropolitan area, developing lands in Douglas, Arapahoe, and Jefferson counties.

During the late 1980s JR expanded from Denver to Colorado Springs and in 1996 expanded northward to Fort Collins. Today JR Engineering operates four offices covering the front range of Colorado and southern Wyoming, into the mountains and west slope of Colorado.

JR continues to provide superior civil engineering and land surveying services to a diverse set of clients, small and large, public and private. The company's areas of expertise include civil engineering and planning, construction services, landscape architecture, surveying, transportation, and water resources.
