Howell Construction Completes Western Union’s (WU) Global Headquarters Relocation Project

Howell Construction, Gensler, and JACOBS recently completed Western Union’s global headquarters relocation project, referred to as “Project Hometown.” The Western Union Company (WU) is a Fortune 500 financial services and communications company that is now headquartered in the Denver Tech Center. Western Union’s headquarters is housed in two buildings on either side of I-25 at Belleview, incorporating approximately 350,000 square feet. These spaces house more than 1,300 employees.

This significant, long-term commitment will now be visible to Colorado communities and provide an infusion of $1 million in contributions to local non-profits and other NGOs, along with a long-term economic investment to the region of more than $300 million over the next decade.

One Belleview Station (OBS) Building:
7001 E. Belleview Avenue: Howell built out floors 9 through 15, as well as portions of floors 1, 6 and 8. This premier 250,000 square-foot, Class A, LEED® Gold Building project included high-quality finishes throughout. Scope of services included: private and open offices with natural light and high ceilings, conference and focus rooms, executive suite, biergarten with connecting stairs, high-end AV packages, leadership center with monumental stairs, a 600 KW generator, and 250 KW UPS.

Tufts Building – 7979 E. Tufts Avenue:
WU occupies 100,000 square feet on five floors of this 17-story building. Howell’s scope of services included a call center, security operations center, community hub lounges, private and open offices, conference and focus rooms, and a 100 KW UPS.
